Blepharoplasty
Your eyelids are typically the first region of the face to show signs of aging. Generally, the upper eyelids develop hanging skin and the lower lids build up fatty bags, which progressively creates a tired appearance. Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) is the name of the surgery which effectively corrects these cosmetic changes.
Blepharoplasty is an outpatient procedure in which either your upper eyelid or both upper& lower eyelids are operated on to remove the excess skin, fat and muscle.
Blepharoplasty maybe an option for you if:
- Baggy or droopy upper eyelids
- Excess skin of upper eyelids which may be interfering with your vision
- Excess skin on lower eyelid
- Bags under your eyes
How is it done?
If surgery planned for your upper and lower eyelids, our surgeon generally works on your upper lids first. Doctor cuts along the fold of the eyelid, removes some excess skin, muscle and possibly fat, and closes the incision.
On the lower lid, the surgeon makes a cut just below the lashes in your eye's natural crease or inside the lower lid. He or she removes or redistributes excess fat, muscle and sagging skin, and closes the cut.
Amount of excess skin, fat and muscle to be removed from the eyelid is at the discretion of you and our surgeon. It would be meticulously planned to match your face, in order to attain the best cosmetic outcome.
