Fillers

Dermal fillers are synthetic substances which are injected into the face to minimise the signs of aging (remove wrinkles or make skin fuller and younger looking). These days hyaluronic acid local anaesthetic, is the filler of choice.

In the market, there are many types of fillers, with composition of different substances. Decision of which filler is made based on how long you want it to last, location of injecting the filler and may even come down to brand preference. These decisions are made jointly by our surgeons and you.

Types of fillers :

Temporary Fillers – These contain hyaluronic acid or collagen. Their beneficial effects last 6 to 12 months and they are typically used for facial lines or crow’s feet (lines around the eyes).

Semi-Permanent Fillers – These contain autologous fat and can last anything from one year to a decade.

Permanent Fillers – These contain silicon, hydrogel or another substance like hydroxyapatite and they are designed to last three to five years.

Uses of fillers
  • Smoothing wrinkles and folds
  • Performing non-surgical blepharoplasty (reduce hollowness under the eyes)
  • Performing non-surgical rhinoplasty (to make the nose appear more narrow or more straight)
  • Reducing nasolabial folds (folds around the nose)
  • Adjusting droopy mouth corners
  • Restoration of lost volume in the cheeks/midface and other areas of the face
  • Making the jowls appear less pronounced
  • Lip augmentation
  • Performing non-surgical chin augmentation

Dermal fillers aim to increase the volume in your face and reduce the appearance of lines. Some fillers have a capacity to hydrate your body from inside. This would make your skin less susceptible to the detriments of the sun.

Dermal fillers may be your next cosmetic option if you are not ready for a surgical procedure. Our procedures are relatively painless, since most fillers we use contain a local anaesthetic. For the ones that don’t, patient may opt to have a local anaesthetic cream applied before injections.
